You Never Lose by Loving, You Lose by Holding Back.

WARNING: This blog entry has nothing to do about makeup or fashion...it will be a mushy outpouring of love type of entry.

Hi Everyone!!

Today is a very special day to me & a few of you may know why.  ;)
Today is the 9th anniversary of my grandfather's death & my 3rd wedding anniversary. Some of you may find it odd that we decided to get married on the anniversary of my grandfather's death, but we wanted to have some happy memories on such a sad day.

I know I don't really get to into detail in this blog about my family, but I thought I would share a little bit about one of my favorite people.

This is a picture of my grandfather & I when I was about 16-17.

I grew up with my parents being divorced when I was very young. My grandfather took the role of dad for many of my life's important experiences, now technically he's my step-grandfather since he's not my father's father. To understand why this (he) means so much to me is because he really did take the role of a dad - he disciplined me, he nurtured me, encouraged me, made me laugh, and above all loved me no matter what. In my eyes father and dad mean completely different things, my grandfather was my dad - any man can be a father (sperm donor), but it takes a real man to be a dad.  Note: by NO means is this a dig at my father, we just don't connect the way I did with my grandfather.

He taught me some very important lessons, but the most important is - Family is not always blood, and a father isn't always a dad.

He passed away 9 years ago and it felt really sudden. He was in very good health, but he went into the hospital for a brain aneurysm and was never released due to other complications. Honestly I don't remember much about that time when he was in the hospital, but I will never forget the important lessons he taught me.
I love you grandpa!

Now on to another favorite person of mine. ;)

Relationships are not easy, but if they were then they wouldn't be worth it right..??
My hubby and I have had a ton of ups & downs in the 5 years we've been together, but we've managed to hold on tight & thrive.

Here's a picture from the beginning of our relationship.
My goodness we look young..and new.lol

At Cape Cod - we took a sand dune tour and were able to watch the sunset on the beach. <3

We do have our disagreements, but we rarely yell & we always fight fair. This is a really important thing to learn if you want to have a solid relationship. We always kiss & makeup though.  ;)

All couples have those things that make them work & I know that silliness & laughter are definitely key for us. It doesn't matter if we're alone or with friends we are always laughing or joking about something.
Examples of silliness below..

Today marks 3 years that we've been married and I still feel like the luckiest women in the world to be with you.

Cheers!!

Happy Anniversary Babes!! I love you!!

Thank you to all of those who could read this mushfest.  ;)

  2. Not a total mush fest. I definitely think we should celebrate life's victories. Being together five years is no easy feat. I've been married nearly 3 years and I'm thankful for the time we have together. You'll have to write about your Grandfather more. I miss mine as well.

  6. I'm so glad to have gotten a peek into your life. I lost my Grandpa ten years ago and while my dad is my best friend, it was great to have my Grandpa there with me as my parents were getting divorced. He was my biggest fan.

Considering I've been with Jason for 6 years it makes me heart sick to read about you and your hubby. I'm jealous of your relationship lol.
