Physicians Formula BB Cream Review

10:48 AM

I was really excited when I heard that Physicians Formula came out with a line of BB products. As soon as I saw them at my CVS I bought all 3 items - BB cream, BB concealer, and BB powder! Today I will be reviewing the BB Cream in this line. Note: I will review the concealer & powder this week too!

This BB cream comes in two shades - light/medium and medium/deep. I purchased the shade Medium/Deep.

10+ Beauty Benefits - Do I agree..??
smoothing - Yes! This did make my skin texture look nice and smooth.
moisturizing - Yes!! A little too well for my oily skin.
protecting - Yes. The SPF 30 is nice to have.
firming - Ehh.. I used this for 2-3 weeks and didn't notice any difference.
priming & filling - No. I need a separate primer when using this, without a primer this would have faded quickly.
perfecting - No. My skin did not look perfect after using this.
concealing - No. If you have any type of blemishes you  would need to add a concealer to cover those.
brightening -Yes. My skin did have a nice glow after using this.
line softening - Ehh.. I don't have any lines to really judge this 'beauty benefit'.
long wearing- No. Maybe if my skin wasn't oily this may have lasted loner.

I have to begin by the color selection..poor job Physicians Formula!! I think they could have tried to add a few more colors to this selection. I purposely put up a picture with the flash used so you can see what a difference having SPF 30 makes in pictures. In person this is an ok match, but slightly light for my paler winter skin.

This is basically a tinted moisturizer with a high SPF, which isn't a bad thing but it's definitely not a traditional BB cream. If you have oily skin I would suggest you stay away from this, within a few hours my skin was incredibly oily after using this even with a primer and powder applied.

I suggest this for..
If you are pale and have dry skin I think you will really like this product. You should be able to find a good color match and your skin will love the moisture. Those with combo skin may like this cream too, but it may fade in areas where your skin is oily.

I DON'T suggest this for...
Medium tan to deep skin tones...just stay away from this, there isn't a good color selection for us and the SPF will make you look like casper in pictures.  If you have oily skin, don't even bother!! This product is just too moisturizing for oily skin.

Will you be trying this BB Cream?

  2. Thank you for the heads up. I saw this today at CVS and was debating between the liquid and powder, I'm going to go with the powder, my face is pure oil slick

  3. Bought all three products as well, in the light/medium shade. Usually use natural beige powder from PF, but it was making my winter skin too dry. I have combination skin, and in oily areas I used the powder over the BB cream, which worked especially well. Any blemishes were well covered by the concealer applied and blended prior to BB cream. I had been using Estee Lauder's BB cream, but the combination of these three products worked better and were ten dollars less.
